Optical Fog Sensor
High-performance optical fog sensor designed for accurate, real-time fog detection and improved visibility monitoring.
MiniOFS – A low price fog sensor
The MiniOFS is a compact and reliable optical fog sensor
developed for detecting fog and reduced visibility conditions.
It provides accurate real-time information that can be used
to improve safety on roads, runways and other critical areas.
You can read about how MiniOFS can reduce
Reduce serial collisions in fog
The sensor uses optical measurement technology to detect changes in atmospheric visibility and provides reliable visibility information for monitoring and warning systems.More information about different optical techniques for measuring visibility etc is available on Measuring visibility.

- Detects fog, haze and low visibility conditions
- No moving parts - high reliability
- Fast response time
- High accuracy and long-term stability
- Low power consumption
- Easy installation and integration
Key Features
Advanced Optical Technology
Forward-scatter optical technology provides accurate and stable visibility measurement in challenging weather.
Fog Detection
Reliable detection of fog and low visibility events supports fast operational decisions.
Fast & Accurate
Rapid response provides real-time visibility information for safety-critical monitoring.
Rugged & Reliable
Robust construction enables dependable operation in demanding outdoor environments.
Easy Integration
Flexible interfaces make integration with existing monitoring systems simple.
Low Maintenance
No moving parts and robust construction reduce maintenance requirements.
Mounting & Installation
Designed for reliable outdoor installation and accurate visibility measurement in demanding environments.
Correct Positioning Matters
The sensor should be mounted so that it "looks" horizontal and roughly north. On the southern hemisphere, the sensor should face south.
There must not be any objects in the direct sightline closer than approximately 5–10 meters.
Correct Orientation
Keep the sensor horizontal and correctly oriented for accurate readings.
Clear Sightline
Maintain a clear viewing area around the sensor for reliable visibility measurement.
Recommended Distance
Avoid obstructions within approximately 5–10 meters of the sensor.
PMMA Plastic Mounting Bracket
We offer a PMMA plastic mounting bracket designed specifically for sensor installation. The bracket helps electrically isolate the sensor and reduces the risk of surge currents.
